Nov 70 -Aug 74. Shift leader in O Troop.Decided to follow the RD path, completed the AA Drill course at Pirbright, Promoted to SSGT and appointed SQMS 1 Sqn. Posted to shiny 9 when the Turks invaded, appointed RQMS (Gen) then to 233 Sig Sqn as SSM, so kept meeting old acquaintances from 13. Met some really exceptionally nice people. A nostalgic trip back to 1957-1958 and the 18 months spent at Birgelen. Sadly no one I knew in the photographs but great memories of Mercury Barracks. Now 75 but still remember the great times we all had and am still in touch with just one pal from those days. |

I remember going orienteering with the scouts around the woods adjacent to the barracks, must have been about 1981, I was a member of the Bruggen scouts. I still have the "Wildenrath Orienteering Map" from that event, made by SPC RE BAOR. I have had a pleasant lunch break looking at the photos on this site, many thanks! |

Hi everyone
I recognise a few names from my time at 13. Was there from 82-85 with B troop before moving to Celle. I still miss the "schnellie" run after an evening shift and my games of tennis with Nige Watton and Paul Dunn after a mid shift. We must have been mad.

I was a civilian at Herzo Base, 9-55 to 9-57. I don’t remember
the names of any of our Brit counterpart but I’ll bet there’s at
least one of your group that remembers Sgt Roy Harris,
“D” trick NCOIC. Contact me and we’ll swap “Roy
stories.”
I did three years in Cheltenham, 1969-72. Maybe some of
you did too?

Just remembering 2 happy tours in Berlin. We were renowned for having parties. New Year 70 or 71 there were 60 people in our quarter and Harry White played his bagpipes. Not a dry eye in the house. We found Barry Brown 24 hrs later asleep in a rolled up carpet as we were clearing up. Fondly remember Rommell, Taff Tabraham, Paul Goudman, Barry Brown, Pete Goonan, Joe Makepeace, Mick Brierley, Brian Boyle, Phil Thompson, Mick Dunbar, Robbie Seaword. |
