EQUIPMENT (Under Construction)
Some of the receivers and ancillary equipment used by the Regiment and its sub-units.

HRO: One of the old favourites. I first used this in Langeleben in the old QL 'back to back' Bedford's which was the Setroom.Used in conjunction with the Frequency Meter (shown below) both of which formed part of the B111 Spec Op Trade test. It used Coils to change frequency bands. Frequency range: 50Khz-30Mhzs   AR88: Made by Collins. One of the all time favourites. Delight to operate having geared tuning.
Probably the most advanced receiver of its type at the time and was used extensively throughout the Sigint community.Weighed around 100lbs.
Freq range: 535 Khz - 32 Mhz in 6 bands.
R206 MK1 receiver went into production around 1942 with the mark 2 version following in 1945. They were built to a very high standard specifically for radio interception and DF stations. A bit of a beast to operate they were around for a long time.

RA 17L: This first triple superhetrodyne HF receiver placed Racal firmly at the fore front of receiver design and made them a global brand. It became one of the best receivers of its type and was highly regarded by the users.
Frequency Coverage. 1-30 mhz.
Weight 67lbs.
HRO Frequency coils used for the different frequency bands of the HRO shown top left.
BC-221 Frequency meter used mainly with the HRO shown above.

Plessey PR 1553: Transistorised double superhet receiver. from the 70's. 15 Khz - 30 Mhz, AM, LSB, USB and CW.

RA 1792:Continuously tunable synthesizer in 10 Hz steps over frequency range. Frequency setting either by numerical keypad or by single tuning knob with continuously variable tuning rate from 1 kHz per turn to approximately 20 kHz per turn, depending on the speed of rotation.
Memory unit programmed with up to 100 frequencies and recalled by keypad or tuning control.
Automatic ChannelScanning of up to ten channels in any decade of the 100 stored channels. Emergency memory delete of freqs. using quadrant keys.
Plessey PR 2250:Modular double-superhet, covering freq range 10 Khz- 30 Mhz- AM, CW, SSB, FSK, and Piccolo signals.
